Hi family and friends,
So this week has been awesome. We’ve gotten the new transfers all figured out and all the new missionaries are safe with their new companions. There was a little slip-up where we as the zone leaders were supposed to arrange transportation to pick up an Elder from the airport coming up to Hanoi from the South, buuuuuuuuut, we never got the memo so he was kinda just sitting there for a couple hours with no idea what to do. Oops. But in the end it’s ok! He ended up getting here just fine.
The new batch of missionaries coming into the country are cool enough. They’re ready to go out and serve, and best of all, there’s another Elder in this group named Anh Ca Huy (that’s my Vietnamese missionary name btw).
My new companion is Elder Dong Quang and he’s so awesome. We served together in the same district down South and then he came up here to be the new zone leader with me. Sis I already mention he’s awesome? Arguably my favorite missionary in his mission. For whatever reason, we get teased for being together and people saying we’re gonna sink this zone into the water like the Titanic haha. I don’t know where they’re talking about😇. In all seriousness though, my new companion is such a hard worker and an awesome missionary. He’s bringing out the best in me and I appreciate all the things he’s done to help me in our callings.
This week has been a really good time in establishing what we’ve wanted to do in terms of advancing the vision of our zone. Elder DQ and I have talked long and hard about our goals for each other personally, as a companionship, and for our zone, and we’ve come up with a plan to accomplish all our goals. It’s all been a headache, but totally worth it.
Over the past week, I’ve learned a lot about being bold with love, a subtle skill of which Christ is the model. I’ve observed missionaries being bold in the past, and have tried it a couple of times in the past, but you know, with anything you try for the first few times, you’re not very good at it and so I ended up just offending people. My trainer Elder Tri, was really good at being bold at inviting people to change, but doing it with love. I think this week I’m starting to make a little bit of progress, and from that small progress, the lessons we’ve taught have had an added element of power to them. It’s been great, and I look forward to continuing to develop the skill.
Love you all lotz!
